The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, referring to his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as an act of cowardice and indicative of a lack of principled political stance.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that this decision breaches essential political morals and threatens the foundations of multi-party democracy.

The PDP asserted that abandoning a platform that has provided him support through multiple election cycles at the first sign of difficulty represents a blatant display of cowardice, rather than the actions of a principled politician.

Though speculation about Fintiri's defection had circulated for a while, he had consistently denied such claims, even reiterating his position as recently as last week following a Presidential visit to Adamawa.

The party acknowledged Fintiri's right to defect but labeled his actions as contrary to political ethics.

"To leave a platform that has been a source of political support, particularly in times of minor challenges, showcases an unequivocal act of cowardice, not the behavior of a principled individual," the statement read.

The PDP further reminded Fintiri that history, alongside future generations, will ultimately judge people's actions and behaviors.

Encouraging members of the party in Adamawa to maintain grace amidst these changes, Ememobong urged them to recognize that true character is revealed during challenging times.

He reassured them that the revitalization of the party's fortunes is on track and that the PDP will return to winning ways.
