Police Conduct Raid on Kidnappers' Den in Nasarawa, One Arrested

The police in Nasarawa State have successfully raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout, leading to the arrest of one individual and the recovery of firearms. This operation took place in Gidan Akuya Village, located in the Keana Local Government Area.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully dismantled a kidnappers’ hideout in Gidan Akuya Village within the Keana Local Government Area, resulting in the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of weapons.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, provided details of this operation in a statement made in Lafia.

According to the statement, the suspect's capture was made possible due to credible intelligence gathered by the police.

Nansel further revealed that the arrested individual, identified as Jibril Yunusa, aged 43, attempted to escape upon spotting the police but was quickly apprehended.

"Acting on reliable intelligence, operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) conducted a successful raid on the premises of a suspected notorious kidnapper in Gidan Akuya Village. Upon noticing the police, the suspect tried to flee but was pursued. Jibril Yunusa, 43, was arrested during this operation," Nansel stated.

The police spokesperson also mentioned that during the raid, various items were recovered, including an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a locally made firearm.

During questioning, Yunusa admitted to taking part in multiple kidnapping incidents in the surrounding areas of Keana and Awe, and he provided helpful information which may assist further investigations.

Nansel noted that the Commissioner of Police for the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has instructed personnel to enhance efforts in capturing other accomplices who escaped during the incident.

He praised the officers for their dedication and professionalism throughout the operation.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command's commitment to combatting crime and safeguarding the lives and property of residents across Nasarawa State.
