Armed invaders have killed a minimum of seven individuals in a fresh assault on Channel One, a border settlement within the Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area in Benue State.
Sources from the area indicated that numerous other individuals sustained severe injuries during the coordinated assault, which took place in the early morning hours of Sunday.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the assailants arrived on motorcycles around 1 am, armed with various dangerous weapons, and began firing at residents. This triggered widespread panic, prompting many to flee the rural settlement for safety.
Chief Joseph Anawah, a community leader from Logo, identified the deceased as Akor Gwakyaa, Msooter Gwakyaa, Aondoungwa Michael, Vershima Michael, Terna Michael, Msughter Terzungwe, and an unnamed seventh victim.
Anawah further reported that several other individuals with critical injuries were initially taken to medical facilities in Anyiin, with at least seven in severe condition being transferred to Ugba, the administrative center of Logo LGA, for immediate medical attention.
Clement Kav, the Chairman of Logo LGA, corroborated the incident when speaking with journalists in Makurdi, stating, "Seven persons were killed, and four others sustained injuries."
When contacted for comment, DSP Udeme Edet, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Benue command, stated that she had not yet received official notification regarding the incident.
