In preparation for this year's Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Super Falcons of Nigeria will face the Cameroonian national team in two friendly matches in Yaoundé. The matches are set to take place during the FIFA Women's International Window from February 24 to March 7.
The friendly encounters between the Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses will occur in the Cameroonian capital on Saturday, February 28, and again on Tuesday, March 3.
Previously, both teams met in a friendly prior to the last Women's Africa Cup of Nations, also hosted by Morocco, where Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
Mohammed Sanusi, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stated, "We have finalized all arrangements for the two friendly matches with our counterpart federation in Cameroon, FECAFOOT. Our goal is to ensure that the Super Falcons are thoroughly prepared to defend their WAFCON title in Morocco and qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals next year in Brazil."
Isaac Mandong, the General Secretary of FECAFOOT, expressed, "We are thrilled to host the Nigerian national team and to enhance the relationship between our two federations through this partnership."
The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place from March 17 to April 3 in Morocco, with the four semi-finalists qualifying directly for the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil. The Super Falcons won their tenth Women AFCON title last summer in Morocco, triumphing over opponents including Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, and the host nation, Morocco.
