A 29-year-old individual tragically lost his life in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, after being fatally stabbed.
The victim, identified as Abdulshaheed from 777 Housing Estate, was reportedly assaulted around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, by a 27-year-old resident named Ali Idris Abatcha.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the assailant allegedly inflicted multiple stab wounds to the victim's back.
The police acted swiftly upon receiving an emergency call from a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arriving promptly at the scene to document the incident and transport the victim to Umaru Shehu Hospital.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Authorities apprehended the suspect at the location of the crime, recovering the weapon used during the attack as evidence.
The Maiduguri State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has launched a thorough investigation into the case.
The remains of the deceased have been handed over to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.
