Suspected robbers wielding dangerous weapons have severed the hand of a teacher, identified as Isah Sallama, during a brutal assault in the Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State. The alarming incident reportedly took place on Wednesday night along the Funkuyi road, within the Buran district, according to a statement from Nasiru Habu Faragai, Secretary for Public Enlightenment of the Rano Emirate Council.
Faragai detailed that Sallama, who resides in Sarkin Bakar Rano, was targeted while attempting to assist another individual, Malam Sauwanu Hadi, whose motorcycle and mobile phone were under attack by the assailants. The attackers initially attempted to shoot Sallama, but their firearm reportedly malfunctioned.
Following the failed attempt to shoot, the assailants resorted to using a machete, with which they inflicted the severe injury, chopping off Sallama's hand and leaving him in a critical state, the statement indicated.
