Warren Buffett, the former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, stated he has no regrets about his substantial contributions totaling $36 billion to the Bill Gates Foundation, despite the scrutiny arising from Bill Gates' ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He clarified that he is no longer in contact with Gates.

In a recent interview, Buffett mentioned, "I wish certain events hadn’t happened." He emphasized the valuable work that the foundation does, asserting, "It isn’t like they’re stealing money for themselves."

According to the foundation, Buffett's donations reached $36 billion as of 2022, and he has continued to provide annual funding since. He has yet to finalize his next donation, which is anticipated in June.

The U.S. Department of Justice recently released over 3 million pages of documents related to Epstein, which include communications between Gates and Epstein regarding meetings and various philanthropic efforts. The records also feature comments from Epstein suggesting misconduct by Gates.

Gates has publicly apologized to the foundation's staff for his association with Epstein, labeling the relationship as "a huge mistake," while he maintains his innocence against any personal accusations of wrongdoing, deeming them false.

All recorded engagements between Gates and Epstein happened after Epstein's 2008 conviction related to prostitution charges.

Buffett mentioned that he never had the opportunity to meet Epstein or communicate with him. He also confirmed that he has not discussed the Epstein matter with Gates despite their longstanding friendship.

"We’ve had great times together," Buffett remarked. "But until the situation is resolved, I don’t think it’s wise to engage in much discussion."

He went further to state his preference to remain uninvolved in any potential legal issues arising from the case, adding, "I don’t want to be under oath."
