President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine will help the United States bolster defenses against drone threats posed by Iran in the Middle East.

Zelenskyy stated that the U.S. had sought technical assistance to fight against Iranian-manufactured drones utilized in regional offensives.

He confirmed that he had approved the deployment of Ukrainian drone defense experts and technological support for allies in the Middle East.

Ukraine has created advanced, cost-effective drone interception systems during its ongoing conflict with Russia, which has employed similar unmanned aerial vehicles in military campaigns against Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.

Zelenskyy mentioned that Kyiv had received requests for defense against the “Shahed” drones, which are Iranian-designed unmanned aerial vehicles frequently used in confrontations within the region.

Furthermore, on Tuesday, Zelenskyy suggested a technology exchange for defense purposes with Middle Eastern allies, indicating the potential for swapping air defense missiles in return for Ukrainian-built interceptor drones, which he highlighted as particularly effective against aerial threats.

“We have received a request from the United States for specific protection against 'Shaheds' in the Middle East,” Zelenskyy wrote on the social media platform X.

This request is a response to the ongoing tensions with Iran, a country whose drone technology has been implicated in various attacks in the region, as well as during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine itself has endured frequent drone strikes, targeting residential neighborhoods, civilian facilities, and energy structures across its territory.

In reaction to Zelenskyy’s announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed that Washington would welcome assistance from any nation capable of enhancing regional security.

“Certainly, I will take any assistance from any country,” Trump remarked in an interview with the media.

The diplomatic and military collaboration emerges amid rising tensions between the United States and Israel against Iran, prompting increased global military investments and security concerns.

Additionally, Trump critiqued Zelenskyy’s approach to peace talks, urging the Ukrainian leader to expedite diplomatic initiatives to resolve the war with Russia.

“Zelenskyy must act quickly to secure a deal,” Trump stated, asserting that Ukraine is negotiating from a less favorable position and noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared more amenable to discussions.

Trump previously pledged to finalize an end to the conflict in Ukraine within his first day in office in 2025, yet the hostilities persist despite continuous diplomatic efforts.

Russia continues its military campaign against Ukraine, maintaining missile and drone strikes throughout various regions of the country.
