Nollywood actor Austin Emmanuel has alleged that businessmen Pascal 'Cubana Chief Priest' Okechukwu and Obinna 'Obi Cubana' Iyiegbu will not support President Bola Tinubu during the 2027 presidential election, despite their public association with his campaign.
Earlier reports indicated that both men, who hail from the South-east, had expressed their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and were backing Mr Tinubu’s re-election efforts.
Cubana Chief Priest served as the Imo State Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), while Obi Cubana was the South-east Director for the same group, which was initiated in 2022 to garner youth support during Tinubu’s 2023 campaign.
A video that gained significant attention on Thursday showed Emmanuel expressing concerns that these two public figures were misleading Seyi Tinubu, ahead of the forthcoming election.
In addressing Seyi, Emmanuel advised that the displayed loyalty of Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest should not be accepted uncritically. He warned, “Seyi Tinubu, the two Igbos you rely on are deceiving you. When election day arrives, they will go to their voting centres but will not support your father. They will accept your funds and promote him, but in the end, they will not vote for him because they are untrustworthy. You could play a vital role in making Nigeria function effectively with your resources, as your family has the means to contribute positively.”
He continued, “However, the common people are enduring hardships, and I must tell you truthfully. The claims that your father has accomplished significant things in office are false; he has not done enough. The populace is suffering, facing issues beyond just insecurity—some even struggle to manage their daily expenses.”
Emmanuel also denounced the poor electricity supply and increasing fuel prices under the current administration. He acknowledged Seyi's intentions to mobilize people for his father’s second-term campaign but contended that such efforts were misguided.
“Honestly, Seyi, it would have been more advantageous if your father had prioritized policies that genuinely improved the lives of ordinary Nigerians. Take electricity, for instance; if he had genuinely focused on this, we would have achieved a stable 24-hour power supply by now.
“Yet, after four years, that hasn’t been accomplished, and many still offer excuses for the power problems facing Tinubu. Some individuals create issues and then appoint others to wrongly address them,” Emmanuel asserted.
He further stressed that misleading entourages were around Seyi, providing false narratives about his father's performance since taking office in 2023.
“Don’t interrupt me, Seyi—just watch this video to the end. Your intention appears to seek another term for your father rather than ensuring a meaningful legacy. Those around you realize that wealthy individuals often prefer flattering narratives, so they tell you what you want to hear to maintain their benefits. Their allegiance is not sincere; it’s motivated by self- interest.
“That's why they continue to push for a second term. They won’t support your father out of genuine loyalty; rather, you will need to ensure they are compensated first. If his administration had been effective, you wouldn’t need to persuade anyone for support; people would come forth willingly, and you would witness the enthusiasm for yourself.”
