Afrobeats artist Asake has solidified his place in Nigeria’s digital music arena by becoming the top artist in terms of streamed albums since 2020.
The list compiled by TurnTable Charts, which is regarded as Nigeria’s leading music ranking source, confirms that Asake’s first two studio albums hold the top two spots for the most streamed albums in the country during the streaming period.
Topping this list is Asake’s second album, Work of Art, released in 2023, which has garnered an impressive 661.2 million streams. This album not only achieved significant commercial success but also received widespread critical acclaim, and it continues to maintain its strong performance on various streaming platforms long after its release.
Following closely is Asake’s debut album, Mr Money With The Vibes, occupying the second position with 634.4 million streams. Additionally, his third studio album, Lungu Boy, is ranked sixth with 387.4 million streams, further demonstrating Asake’s profound impact on Nigeria’s digital music landscape.
Industry experts suggest that this success underscores Asake's impressive ascent to fame and his influence in transforming modern Afrobeats through a unique combination of high-energy rap and fuji-inspired melodies.
Supporting his commercial achievements is information from Spotify Nigeria, which recently recognized Asake as the most streamed artist in the country since the platform was introduced locally in 2021.
Asake first broke into the mainstream in January 2022 with his EP Ololade Asake. His distinctive style, paired with the production flair of his collaborator Magicsticks and the frequent incorporation of log drums, led to hit after hit that propelled him to prominence in the Nigerian music scene.
Alongside Asake's dominance, other Nigerian artists have also made notable entries on the list. Burna Boy features multiple times, notably with his album Love, Damini, which sits at fourth position with 436.8 million streams. His album I Told Them ranks ninth, accumulating 308 million streams, and his Grammy-winning album Twice As Tall is in 19th place with 235.3 million streams.
Davido appears on the list with two albums: his 2023 release Timeless holds the fifth spot with 428.5 million streams, while his later project 5ive, which was launched in 2025, is positioned at number 15.
Wizkid also has two entries; his latest album Morayo ranks tenth with 301.4 million streams, while his celebrated 2020 album Made in Lagos is 13th with 264.1 million streams.
Other notable mentions include Seyi Vibez, whose debut album Billion Dollar Baby is seated eighth with 331.1 million streams, and his recent album Thy Kingdom Come ranks 17th with 245 million streams.
Additional entries on the chart comprise projects such as Boy Alone by Omah Lay, EZIOKWU by ODUMODUBLVCK, Jiggy Forever by Young Jonn, Maverick by Kizz Daniel, Sincerely, Benson by BNXN, Playboy by Fireboy DML, Blessed by MohBad, and HEIS by Rema.
With three albums placed prominently in the rankings, analysts assert that Asake’s streaming figures highlight his role as a defining figure in Nigeria’s evolving Afrobeats landscape.
