Zamfara State is set to begin the air transportation of individuals intending to perform the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, with operations scheduled to launch from the Gusau International Airport. Alhaji Musa Mallaha, the Executive Chairman of the State Hajj Commission, shared this information during a radio broadcast in Gusau.
Mallaha indicated that a decrease in the number of Hajj slots allocated to Nigeria by the Saudi authorities would unfortunately affect more than 450 prospective pilgrims from Zamfara State.
He further elaborated on measures being implemented to enhance the comfort and well-being of pilgrims. According to Mallaha, each pilgrim will receive two large bags and one smaller bag, representing an upgrade from provisions in previous years.
Additionally, a committee has been established to guide pilgrims on the correct performance of Hajj rituals. This committee, led by Sheikh Ahmad Ibn Umar Kanoma, is tasked with conducting orientation sessions across all 14 local government areas in the state prior to the commencement of the exercise on April 14.
Islamic scholar Sheikh Sa’idu Aliyu Maikwano encouraged the pilgrims affected by the quota reduction to embrace the situation with understanding, suggesting they view it as the will of God and a matter of destiny.
