The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has expressed its congratulations to Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) following the successful completion of the Awodi-07 exploration and appraisal well situated in the shallow offshore of the western Niger Delta.
A statement from NNPC Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, indicated that the drilling of the Awodi-07 well forms part of the Joint Venture's ongoing initiative to further explore and exploit hydrocarbon reserves within its asset portfolio.
The statement noted that through their collaboration, the partners aim to elevate oil production to approximately 146,000 barrels per day, which is expected to enhance government revenue, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall energy stability of the country.
NNPC Limited and Chevron Nigeria Ltd operate under a joint venture agreement, managing various oil and gas fields in Nigeria’s Niger Delta.
In this partnership, Chevron holds a 40 percent stake in the assets, while NNPC Limited maintains the remaining share. This structure enables both companies to pool resources, expertise, and investment for the more effective development of Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
Drilling operations commenced in late November 2025 and were completed by mid- December 2025, with all procedures implemented safely, effectively, and in adherence to established operational and regulatory guidelines.
After comprehensive testing, logging, and data collection, the well was secured, concluding the program successfully.
