A primary school educator has received a lifetime ban from the teaching profession following substantiated allegations of grooming and inappropriate conduct involving young female students. The teacher, identified as 62-year- old Carl Dixon, was found to have engaged in unacceptable professional behaviour during a review by the Teaching Regulation Agency.

The panel overseeing the case heard evidence detailing a pattern of concerning actions by Dixon, who worked at a school in northeast London between 2017 and 2020. His misconduct included sending clandestine, personalised notes to pupils, physically touching a student inappropriately, and pressuring students into physical contact.

Evidence presented during the hearing indicated that Dixon attempted to bypass school supervision protocols. He reportedly arranged secret lunch meetings with children and instructed them to conceal their movements from staff.

Further scrutiny of Dixon's history uncovered dishonesty during his initial employment process in 2018. He had falsely stated that he had never been flagged by police or children's services as posing a risk to youngsters, a claim the panel determined was a deliberate falsehood.

Several specific allegations involving multiple students were confirmed to be more likely than not true. Accounts from witnesses and students highlighted Dixon's method of secreting notes in books and subsequently discarding them to evade discovery.

In one documented incident, notes from a school assistant confirmed that two girls had reported being asked out on dates by the teacher. The investigation also uncovered evidence of behaviour deemed sexually motivated, such as the inappropriate touching of a student and using the incentive of a class party to coerce a child into a hug.

Dixon resigned from his teaching position in January 2020, and his dismissal was formalised earlier this year. The panel concluded that Dixon's failure to accept accountability for his actions suggested a considerable risk of recurrence.

Given the severe nature of his actions, described as "inappropriate and sexually motivated," the agency mandated that Dixon be permanently barred from teaching, with no provision for a future review of his status.
