Desperados lit up Lagos on Sunday, April 5, 2026, teaming up with the Roadblock Party to transform the Balmoral Convention Centre at Ikeja Sheraton into a dynamic hub for music, fashion, and bold self-expression.
From the moment attendees arrived, the atmosphere was set. A signature 'all- white' and 'all-black' dress code created a strong visual theme, complemented by interactive elements like the Roadblock Tattoo Studio, which encouraged spontaneity and personal style. This event was more than just a party; it was a complete Desperados experience crafted for individuals ready to stand out.
The night was expertly hosted by Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke, whose engaging introductions built excitement for each performance and ensured the energy remained high throughout the event.
A succession of talented DJs, including DJ Chelar, DJ Neptune, DJ Spinall, DJ YK Mule, Wanni x Handi, DJ Flo, and Dope Caesar, took the audience on an electrifying musical journey. Their back-to-back sets kept the crowd captivated for hours. Attendees who showcased creative outfits were recognized with drink vouchers and exclusive merchandise, adding an extra layer of excitement.
A major highlight was the 'Next Rated DJ' competition, a Roadblock Party initiative aimed at discovering emerging talents in the DJing scene. After an initial selection of the top 10 DJs from submitted sets, who then remixed a popular track, a thrilling final round led to DJ Frizzy being crowned the winner. DJ Frizzy received a ₦500,000 grand prize, marking their emergence as a prominent new figure in the industry.
Fueled by Desperados, the Roadblock Party offered a distinctive twist on Easter Sunday, providing a platform for young people to immerse themselves in music, culture, and social connection. Every aspect of the event was thoughtfully designed to promote freedom, individuality, and shared energy, reinforcing Desperados' position as a brand that creates authentic cultural moments resonating with Gen Z.
Onyebuchi Allanah, Senior Brand Manager for Desperados at Nigerian Breweries Plc, described the event as an "unapologetic showcase of bold self- expression." She stated, “Desperados is rooted in edgy and unconventional experiences for the Gen Z consumers. Our collaboration with the Roadblock Party created yet another space where young people can show up fully, connect through music and culture, and own their individuality without hesitation.”
