A groom has been taken into custody following allegations that he shot and killed his friend during his own bachelor party, an event that took place in Oklahoma in the United States. Authorities were alerted to a suspected fatality around 1 a.m. on April 4, 2026, when officers responded to a call in a residential area.
Upon their arrival, emergency responders encountered an individual with a gunshot wound. The individual who identified himself as the shooter, 22-year- old Nolan Dain Engel, was present at the scene. According to investigators, Engel recounted that he and three companions were celebrating his bachelor party at an Airbnb rental when they heard a noise outside, noticing a shadow.
Engel stated that he discharged a shot from a 9mm handgun towards the perceived shadow before proceeding to investigate outside the Airbnb cabin. He claimed to have discovered his friend, 21-year-old Braden Uhlmann, outside and suffering from a gunshot injury.
Uhlmann was transported to a nearby hospital immediately after the first responders arrived. However, he later succumbed to his injuries and was officially pronounced deceased.
Law enforcement officials indicated that the evidence collected at the location corroborated Engel's account of the events, including the fact that he fired the shot that struck Uhlmann.
Following the investigation, Engel was arrested and subsequently charged with second-degree murder.
