Iwobi Up for Fulham's February Goal of the Month Award

Alex Iwobi continues to make his mark at Fulham FC, as the Nigerian international has received a nomination for the club's February Goal of the Month award due to his pivotal goal in their triumph over Sunderland AFC.

Fulham has announced a shortlist of seven impressive goals for the monthly honor, with the talented midfielder among the key contenders following yet another composed performance in front of goal.

Iwobi's nomination stems from his strike in the 85th minute during Fulham's 3–1 victory against Sunderland, a goal that proved crucial as the home side mounted a late challenge for an equalizer.

As Sunderland surged forward in their quest to level the score, Fulham exploited the gaps left in their defense. Harry Wilson executed a fast counter-attack, skillfully passing the ball to Iwobi, who showcased his finesse by placing the ball into the net, reinstating Fulham's two-goal lead and sealing the outcome.

This goal not only secured a vital three points for Marco Silva's team, but it also highlighted Iwobi's increasing significance in the club's attacking strategy.

Interestingly, this nomination coincides with exactly two years since Iwobi first secured Fulham's Goal of the Month award in February 2024, marking another milestone in his steady progress at Craven Cottage. Since joining from Everton FC in September 2023, he has transformed into a more reliable offensive player for the London side.

Iwobi has netted 18 goals in the Premier League for Fulham, a tally that already exceeds more than half of the total goals he scored during his tenures at Everton and Arsenal FC combined. The former Hale End Academy graduate has become one of Fulham's most reliable creative forces, blending his exceptional dribbling skills with improved finishing.

In addition to Iwobi, the competition for the February accolade includes six other notable goals. Contenders for the award comprise marks from Raúl Jiménez, Kevin Mbabu, Jonah Kusi-Asare, Harrison Reed, Anna Grey, and Macauley Zepa.

The award aims to spotlight the most remarkable goals scored by the club’s men’s and women’s teams, allowing fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite moment.
