Man Leaps from Fourth Floor After Allegedly Killing Individual and Dog

A man has pleaded not guilty following charges of murdering a resident and his dog in Louisville, Kentucky. The suspect, Charles Gerlach, reportedly jumped from his apartment after the incident.

A Louisville man has entered a not guilty plea after being charged with the murder of a local resident and his dog in the United States.

Authorities responded to a fourth-floor apartment in Old Louisville on February 26, 2026, after the suspect, Charles Gerlach, reportedly jumped from the building.

Upon arriving, police discovered the body of a man concealed behind a mattress in a closet. The victim's Chihuahua was found dead in the sink.

Gerlach was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment. He has since been relocated to the custody of Louisville Metro Corrections.
