Donald Trump has issued instructions to US government entities, including the Department of Defense, to start the process of releasing documents pertaining to aliens, extraterrestrial beings, and unidentified aerial phenomena. This direction comes after renewed public attention was generated by statements made by former President Barack Obama.

In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump expressed that due to the "tremendous interest shown" by the public, he aims to facilitate the release of documents that encompass information related to alien life, UAPs, and UFOs, emphasizing the complexity and significance of these matters.

Earlier that same day, while speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump accused Obama of revealing classified information during a podcast session. Trump stated, "He’s not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake."

When queried about his personal beliefs regarding the existence of aliens, Trump confessed, "Well, I don’t know if they’re real or not."

He further mentioned that although many people hold beliefs in extraterrestrial existence, it is not a subject he frequently discusses, and he maintains a neutral stance on the matter.

This controversy follows an interview Obama had with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen, which was released the previous Saturday. In that interview, Obama remarked, "They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in Area 51."

He elaborated, stating, "There’s no underground facility unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States."

In the wake of the attention his comments received, Obama later clarified his stance with a post on Instagram, asserting, "I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!"

Obama, who served as president from 2009 to 2017, noted that his comments were meant to reference the statistical probability of life existing elsewhere in the universe, acknowledging its vastness. There has been no sign that he based his statements on classified data.

Interest in UFOs and alien life has surged in recent years. Reports emerged in 2017 about a previously unacknowledged Pentagon program aimed at investigating sightings reported by military personnel.

In 2022, the Congress held its first public hearings on UFOs in five decades, leading the Pentagon to promise increased transparency and establish a dedicated office for collecting and assessing reports of military encounters with unidentified aerial phenomena.

In 2023, a panel from the U.S. House of Representatives scrutinizing this matter did not yield any groundbreaking findings or confirmation of alien existence. A subsequent Pentagon report released in 2024 asserted that there was "no evidence" of extraterrestrial encounters by the U.S. government, and that many reported UFO sightings concerned everyday objects.

Trump’s recent directive signifies a renewed effort to declassify government records regarding these topics, reflecting enduring political and public intrigue surrounding the prospect of life beyond our planet.
