Victor Osimhen, the forward for Galatasaray, has shared his thoughts regarding his time at SSC Napoli, revealing that he felt he was unfairly treated in the latter part of his tenure with the club.

The Nigerian international played a crucial role in Napoli's memorable Serie A victory for the 2022/23 season, under coach Luciano Spalletti, finishing as the top scorer and helping the team claim its first championship in over 30 years. However, his performance began to decline in the subsequent season amidst increasing speculation regarding his future.

Despite signing a contract extension in December 2023, Osimhen stated there was an implied agreement that he would be permitted to leave during the next summer transfer window, which he claims was subsequently disregarded.

"We had a gentleman’s agreement that I could move the following summer, but it wasn’t fully respected,” Osimhen expressed in remarks covered by Football Italia.

He added, "They tried to push me in different directions—go here, go there. After everything I sacrificed to build my career, I couldn’t accept being treated that way. I’m not a puppet."

The Nigerian striker eventually secured a permanent transfer to Galatasaray S.K. for €75 million after an initial loan arrangement.

Osimhen also mentioned that Juventus F.C. had shown substantial interest in acquiring him in 2024. He noted that Cristiano Giuntoli, the former sporting director of Juventus, reached out to him prior to final negotiations with Galatasaray.

"Yes, there was interest,” Osimhen confirmed. “When Juventus comes calling, you always listen. I spoke with people from the club, but I knew that the Napoli president wouldn't approve the move."

Now flourishing in Turkey, Osimhen is a key player for Galatasaray, having netted 15 goals and provided three assists in 22 matches as his team aims for their fourth consecutive league title.
