Lord Sear, the iconic hip-hop DJ renowned for his association with Eminem, has tragically passed away at the age of 52.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lord Sear. He was more than a voice on the radio — he was a force, a friend, and family to so many of us,” reads a heartfelt tribute on Lord Sear’s Instagram account. “Lord Sear’s legacy in hip hop runs deep.”
At this time, no additional information regarding the cause of his death has been disclosed.
Born Steve Watson and based in New York City, Lord Sear made a name for himself in the hip-hop community.
SiriusXM plans to honor the late DJ with a tribute airing today and Friday from 12 PM to 4 PM ET on Shade 45 (channel 45), accessible through car radios and the SiriusXM app.
He joined SiriusXM in the early 2000s, co-hosting "The All Out Show with Rude Jude" on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel. During this era, Sear also toured with Eminem as part of the Anger Management Tour.
Later on, he created his own show, "The Lord Sear Special," which continued to air on SiriusXM until his untimely passing.
Eminem was among the first to express his condolences to Sear, posting on X: “Sear was one of the greatest people to be around. I will never forget how he made me laugh on our tour together. Our time on @Shade45 together was always some of my favorite interviews. He made the world a better place, and I’m gonna seriously miss that. Rest in peace Lil Trey aka @LordSear!!!”
