A Kenyan woman named Linet Munala has been taken into custody for allegedly killing her three children in a deliberate act that stemmed from a domestic dispute.
The children's bodies, which included 4-year-old boy and one-year-old twin girls, were found within a single-room residence in Neema Plaza, Mlolongo Phase III, on the morning of January 26, 2026.
The twins were discovered sharing a bed, while their elder brother was located in a separate one.
Inside the apartment, the scene depicted disarray, with food, children’s items, uniforms, and clothing scattered throughout the space.
Reports suggest that the poison used, remnants of which were found on the table, had been mixed into porridge that was given to the children.
Neighbors indicated that the poisoning likely occurred after the parents had a violent argument over the prior weekend. The mother was subsequently located and arrested while attempting to flee. She is currently held at Mlolongo police station as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continues their inquiry.
According to police findings, the event transpired late on January 25 or in the early hours of January 26.
The caretaker of the premises reported the incident around 1 PM on Monday, after receiving an alarming text message from the suspect after her departure from the residence.
“The suspect’s three children were found deceased inside the house with foam coming from their mouths,” stated a police report.
It is believed that a mixture containing a detergent known as vim was used to poison the children. The scene was examined, evidence collected, and the bodies were transported to the City Mortuary for autopsies, which will determine the cause of death.
After sending a cryptic message to a neighbor, the suspect urged her to visit the home alongside the caretaker.
“She instructed her neighbor to come over and see what transpired in her residence,” recounted the caretaker, Rose Anai.
Worried, the caretaker rallied fellow tenants to accompany her to the home.
“When we arrived, the door was wide open. I entered first and checked on one child. I immediately realized the child had passed on. That is when I called the police,” she recounted.
The neighbor who received the cryptic message reported, “When I arrived at the house, she told me that her husband’s friend had called to say he was delayed in Nairobi, and she began expressing concerns that her husband was unfaithful.”
Another neighbor believed the tragic deaths resulted from the woman's unwillingness to share the marital struggles she faced, which led to considerable misunderstandings.
